Buena Vista Wildlife Safari & RV Park offers one of the most unique experiences for tourists and locals who want to see the wilder side of Texas.
Whether you’re parking your RV for the weekend or renting out one of our cabins, we know you’ll have the time of your life meeting the furry friends that call our safari park home.
Before planning your first visit, let’s look at some of the animals you and your family will meet on your journey through our 250-acre safari journey.
American Bison
The American bison is an iconic animal that symbolizes the wildness of the American West. These massive beasts once roamed the plains in huge herds, but were nearly driven to extinction in the late 1800s due to overhunting.
Today, bison can be seen grazing and roaming in protected herds at national parks and wildlife refuges like Buena Vista Wildlife Safari & RV Park.
Our tour allows visitors to get near bison within the safety of a vehicle. Seeing the sheer size and strength of these creatures is an unforgettable experience. Bison stand six feet tall and can weigh up to 2,000 pounds.
Watching a herd of bison graze and interact is a window into what life on the range was like before the west was settled. Our encounter gives an appreciation for the rich wildlife that once filled the American plains. For an experience like no other, observe the American bison at a safari park.
Longhorn
The Longhorn is an iconic cattle breed of the American West. Originating from Spain in the 1400s, these cattle were brought over by explorers and flourished in the plains. Longhorns are best identified by their distinctive horns, which can reach 9 feet long on a bull.
Our safari allows you to see these majestic animals up close. Getting to observe Longhorns in their natural habitat is a unique experience we’re eager to bring you. Their notable horns, history, and near-extinction make Longhorns a special animal to see while on our premises.
Scimitar-Horned Oryx
With their striking appearance, impressive horns, and ability to thrive in harsh conditions, oryx are one of the most memorable antelope species to spot on our safari drive. Oryx are large antelopes identified by their long, straight horns and bold facial markings of black and white.
They stand out in the arid grasslands and deserts where they graze due to their sandy brown coats. Oryx are well-adapted to hot, dry environments and can survive for extended periods without water.
Their large size at over 4 feet tall means they command attention whenever they are viewed in the wild. For an iconic African antelope perfectly suited to game drives, it’s hard to beat observing majestic oryx.
Ostrich
Few animals represent Africa more than the imposing ostrich. Standing up to 9 feet tall, ostriches are the largest birds in the world and are a thrilling sight to spot while on a self-guided safari.
With their long, bare necks and legs, and huge bodies covered in feathery plumage, ostriches have a prehistoric appearance when seen roaming the grasslands.
Getting to observe these remarkable flightless birds up-close while they graze, interact, or race across the open terrain is a memorable African wildlife encounter, right in the heart of Evant, Texas.
With their speed, size, and behaviors, the ostrich is an eccentric bird that adds a touch of the extraordinary to our safari.
